Stadium Journey magazine recently published an article by Paul Swaney ranking 2014-15 NHL Arena Experiences.
The magazine ranked Winnipeg’s MTS Centre as #1 in the NHL.
The magazine examined the amenities, the neighbourhood, and the game day experience. It also considered the fans, in terms of their knowledge of the game, as well as their energy level.
Here are the links. The first link is the detailed article on the MTSCentre, the other link is to the full article .
Time and time again the article comes back to the fans. Even if you already attend the Jets games, the article is fun to read. The MTS Centre is built with the seats rising somewhat more vertically than most NHL arenas. As a result, the fans are closer to the players. As loud as it sounds in the arena sometimes, it’s louder for the players on the ice.
There are some games every year that are kinda “clunkers”, where the team and the crowd never really enter into that positive feedback loop.
But there were fewer of those “clunkers” last year, with the new emphasis on forechecking, and playing with energy. The frequent massive hits by Ladd and Byfuglien often brought the crowd to their feet, cheering the team on😃.
As my brother Derek says, you never really know which games are for going to be the great, memorable games. So if you’re lucky enough to be a part of a ticket group, like we are, you draft your games, and you go. Every once in a while you’re at a game which has become a crazy party, with the jets skating out to an early lead, and the fans cheering as loud as beating drums.
If you still haven’t had the chance to go to a Winnipeg Jets game at the MTS Centre, you must go and experience it. It’s an experience that you won’t soon forget!!!
