Old man and his lawn chair…new poetry by Chuck Duboff

Alone he sits,
The old man,
Arms folded,
Lips clenched,
Stoic

The sad old man,
Alone
In his thoughts,
Life
Passing him by.

Alone,
His lawn chair…
Comforting,
Stable,
A friend.

Arms folded,
Cars drive by,
Life unfolding,
Joy and happiness,
Sadness in his eyes.

Alone he sits,
Lost in his thoughts,
Regrets,
Guilt,
Resignation.

Alone,
The lawn chair,
His comfort,
Security,
Window to a world
Unfolding…
Much too fast.

Alone he sits,
The old man,
He was…
My father.
