The Circle of Friends…new poetry by Chuck Duboff

These words have as much meaning today as they did when I first wrote them.

circle of friends.

The circle of friends
Evolves…
As we age.

We accumulate
Acquaintances,
Leaches,
Strangers and hypocrites.

Some friends…
Loyal,
Supportive,
Caring,
Life long
Co-Travellers
On this journey.

Some friends…
A facade of caring,
Loyalty paper thin,
Devouring the gifts,
Favours and trust…
Abandoning
Without thought.

As we age,
We learn.
Value sincerity.
Cherish loyalty.
Thankful for…
Integrity and trust.

The circle,
Smaller,
But
Oh so very much,
Stronger.
Inhabited
By good souls.

Quite simply…
Many a mensch,
Breathing life,
Into
Peace and security.

This poem is dedicated to all my wonderful friends…thank you for the gift of your friendship.
