A candle so briefly lit: Chase Martens…by Chuck Duboff

It’s been 24 hours since I wrote this blog; as I am about to reblog this heartbreaking story…I am sickened by the need for today’s Free Press to write two editorials urging people to show some humanity towards little Chase’s parents. Who is anyone to cast stones against these parents…life happens; little Chase went out to play…we can’t smother our children 24/7…for some unknown reason, fate decided it was Chase’s time. That is all, nothing more. Have some compassion for two grieving parents.

How do we make sense of a 2 1/2 year old child losing his life?  How can we begin to comprehend the excruciating pain which the parents of this little soul must be feeling?  How will these parents ever get on with their lives?

A little boy, just 2 1/2 years old, gets dressed to go outside and play.  His parents look out the windows, see he’s ok and continue on with what they are doing…perhaps cleaning the kitchen, making a meal or just simply talking.  Their little angel wanders off…and then FATE decides that it’s little Chase’s time to leave this world.  This little soul, with his whole life in front of him, drowns in…
