FISH WIN!  FISH WIN!

The Winnipeg Goldeyes evened up this 4 game series at 2 & 2 with a convincing 14 to 4 win over Fargo.

Star of the game for the Eyes was Wes Darvill as he hit a triple and then connected on a home run and had 3 R.B.I.’s. Casio Grider also had a key hit, a bases clearing double for 3 R.B.I.s in the Goldeyes 10 run bottom of the 4th. Other R.B.I.s came from Willie Cabrera (2) Reggie Abercrombie (2) and with 1 R.B.I. each, Gonzalez, Heisler & Romanski.

On the mound Duke von Schamann got off to a bit of a rocky start, but settled in and went 8 innings to record the win. Brandon Shimo pitched 1/3 innings and Kyle Anderson tossed 2/3 of an inning to end the game.

Another great start for the Goldeyes from Duke von Schamman

Former Goldeye, Josh Mazzola belted out a home run for the RedHawks.

Despite the big win, the Goldeyes lead over Laredo fell to just two games, as Laredo won a doubleheader.  It’s going to be a race to the finish, as both teams just have ten games left on their schedule.

The focus can’t just be on the wild card; the Goldeyes are now within 3 games of the St Paul Saints and the teams have a huge 3 game series next week in St Paul.

Starting tomorrow evening at 7:05 Eyes begin a 3 game series with Sioux City, come on out and enjoy a fun evening of entertaining baseball at Shaw Park. GO GOLDEYES!

Get tickets for tonight’s game at TicketMaster, goldeyes.com and 204-982-2273.
